This might be the first and maybe the last time i post here
lolx...
Like what the teachers had all say, although we didnt get gold,
In conductor's heart, amy's heart, timothy"s heart, ms cherie ong's heart, ms low, ms yong and mdm goh's heart,we are always a gold-with honours choir.
we may not have done very well, but we had definitely grown and is surely
much different from where we had started out.
Seriously speaking,i am very proud of Kranji Choir.i really am.
especially my Altos,i think you guys have changed the most. From the time hope mi was still with us, till wei en came over to help us, then the times i lead with foong ming and beatrice, until lastly yeanjun, wenting and huisian, we had definitely changed for the better and i hope you guys will continue to be strong and work hard as a section.Remember no matter how others see you, kranji choir altos will remains the best in my heart.
It was a tiring day for yesterday and the day before and on wednesday as well, but nobody complain or groan like we would always used to when the practise drag or when sectional leaders call for any extra sectionals or voice trainings.we've grown to be mature and understanding and torelant. We stood for the whole session without requesting to sit.we were focus and wasnt easily distracted as we used to be too.
We were all nervous(definitely) when we were at VCH, but because we were told we shld'nt spread the fear, nobody talked much and everyone's feeling was trapped in each individual's body. Although we couldnt share, we knew at that point that we were one.We have each other and no matter what,we would be a big family. We were Kranji Choir, live together, die together.
we went to the backstage finally, finding the place so familiar yet so unfamiliar.
It was the same place we had our first rehearsal with Conductor, it was also the same place that we had the rehearsal with mr kwei, it was also the place where we joined the PJC concert. It was the place that holds much of memories too.Yet it was also the place that could decide our fate.
when we finished our last shout of "janger" on stage,we knew we had done our part, or maybe our best.we knew there was no more another chance or was there another rehearsal.everything was over, all efforts, practices had been rounded up with a nice full-stop.
when the results was out, some of us broke down, many stunned, others dissapointed.
But like what they always say, the result is'nt important, what matters is the process and i dare to say, people, we had had the best process because it does not only involves the tears and sweat, it also includes the happiness, the smiles, the laughter and most importantly the fun.
Will anyone always remember the happiness we shared together as a choir, the times we had fun together as a choir, the time we did push-ups together as a choir, the times we cheered as a choir and most importanly the many practices we sang together as Kranji choir, forever and ever?i hope someone out there in our strong choir would, but even if no one would, Cheryl would definitely remember Kranji Choir july '06 to apr '07 and the day that brought our memories together--20 apr '07.

I really thought everyone did well last evening and kudos to Kranji Choir!I believe that the standard for this year's SYF has gone up quite a bit, since there were much more bronzes than silvers. So it wasn't us, just the higher standards. At least we get to maintain our silver status, and quoting Elizabeth's words "Silver is more shiny than gold".
And I didn't get to say this (because I was a little freaked out) yesterday
and I thought it was rather cliche, but I really thought it's the process, how we practised hard, morning sectionals, afternoon sectionals, intensive combined practices, vocal trainings with amy and timothy, getting really tired and having fun with all the wacky guys speaking nonsense and doing crazy stuff that makes us Kranji Choir, and in my heart, that silver was my gold with honours (as quoted from Ms Yong last night) and I'm sure it's our Gold With Honours as well.
Of course, we have to thank all our teachers-in-charge- Ms Ong, Mdm Goh, Ms Low and Ms Yong as well as our dearest conductor Ms Ong, as well as Amy, Timothy and pianist Wanrong for spending so much of their precious time helping us wholeheartedly. :)To the juniors, JIAYOU for the other choir performances you are going to have and do well for your studies too, especially those who are going for their streaming this year, I hope you all can get into the courses you desire. :)
and to my
dearest sopranos, sorry for those times I used to scold and chide you all, those times I broke down into tears and didnt lead you all well. Thank you for making my choir life really meaningful and I actually thought I was going to regret my decision of being the Soprano SL but now I don't, because of each and every one of you. Jiayou for your future endeavours. In my heart, each and every one of you are the best Sopranos I've ever be with. :D

Yo Choir. There are some of us who have stage fright, become nervous on stage.. etc..
It’s just 5 mere days to SYF. Are we gonna waste 1/2 a year of hard work and give it up for just 10/15 MINUTES of stage fright? ARE WE? NO RIGHT!?
Think about it. Why bother to throw away all those hours of practice since November, just because you are nervous? Then after that, regret because you didn't do your best?

Everyone Sang Everyone suddenly burst out singing;
And I was filled with such delight
As prisoned birds must find in freedom,
Winging wildly across the white
Orchards and dark-green fields; on - on - and out of sight.
Everyone's voice was suddenly lifted;
And beauty came like the setting sun:
My heart was shaken with tears; and horror
Drifted away ... O, but Everyone
Was a bird; and the song was wordless; the singing will never be done.
-- Siegfried Sassoon
In “Everyone Sang” Sassoon creates a beautiful vision of the past
juxtaposed with the dark reality of the future to illustrate the
language barrier after the war. Initially Sassoon paints a portrait of
happiness in which “everyone suddenly burst out singing” (1) which
“filled” him “with such delight” (2). While the scene Sassoon presents
is filled with gaiety and happiness, the lines are written in the past
tense, suggesting a sense of nostalgia and loss. The speaker no longer
feels the joy that once was a part of his or her life and the
verbalization of that joy, the “singing”, no longer exists. Sassoon
goes on to say that the scene’s “beauty came like the setting sun”
(8). The simile of the sunset reinforces the closure of the moment’s
idealism and “freedom” (3); eventually, like the setting sun, beauty
fades and reality takes over. Sassoon also compares the “delight” felt
to a type of emotion that “prisoned birds must find in freedom, /
winging wildly across the white/ orchards and dark-green fields; on –
on – and out of sight” (3-5). The joy the song evokes within the
speaker frees him, allowing him to escape the pressures of
life. However, in the final two lines of the poem, Sassoon revises his
memory and realizes that “Everyone / was a bird; and the song was
wordless” (9-10). Sassoon makes “Everyone” the “prisoned birds,” but
because the song is “wordless,” the possibility of “freedom” can never
actually be achieved. Because the words cannot be expressed, people no
longer have an outlet for joy or escape. Also, by using a semicolon to
separate the phrase “on – on – and out of sight” from the rest of the
thought, Sassoon suggests that the previous idea of freedom is what
flies “out of sight,” not the imprisoned birds. But Sassoon goes a
step further and proclaims that “the singing will never be done”
(10). Sassoon’s shift to future tense signals that language will never
be the same and can never return to its former purpose. Because
Sassoon wrote the poem in 1919, right after the end of the war, the
shift in tenses from past to future implies that the war is the
decisive change, represented by an ellipsis in line nine, in language
and expression.

As many of us might know, our SYF happens to fall on the same day as our school's sport day and because of that, Sports day should be banned for all SYF CHOIR members. Please take note and if you have signed up for an event already, please remove your name from that event.
